Just got myself a Martin OM-28 Marquis!
Evening ;)
I opened a thread a couple of weeks ago asking for your opinion on an upgrade from a Martin OM-21. I've played many guitars since (OM-42, 000-42, 000-28EC, GPCPA1,SC OM/PW to name but a few) and today finally got the chance to play a brand-new Martin OM-28 Marquis. I played it against the new 2012 OM-21 and a OM-41 2012 Special with Adirondack top (which had been produced for NAMM) and a Taylor 514CE; for me the Marquis was undoubtedly the winner across all aspects. The wider neck, optical understatement (OM-41 looked like an OM-45 - too much bling for me) and, of course, the impeccable tone did it for me. On the net I found people saying that adirondack spruce takes a while to open up, but allegedly it's worth the while. Since I have never owned a guitar in that price range I invite you to share your opinions on that guitar or just drop a thought :) P.S. The poll ist just for fun. I find it interesting to see which guitars get the most votes. after all, it was the result of the poll i had started in my last thread that tempted me to ask my local guitar dealer whether he can order a OM-28 Marquis in for testing :D So long, Kevin |
Hi Kevin,
Congratulations on that OM-28 Marquis! This is a very classy guitar... I'm sure you will love it. - Glenn |
A fine choice indeed, Marquis are terrific Martins.
Of course, until you post pix it didn't happen.............;) Enjoy your OM-28 Marquis! |
Congrats on what I'm sure is an awesome guitar! I have a D28 Marquis and I would love to get my hands on an OM Marquis. I bet that guitar has huge sound for an OM. Post up a few pics if ya get a chance.
Congrats! |
Congrats. I took a gamble on my OM-28 Marquis when I purchased it online without having played it. I was happily blown away, still my favorite Martin I've ever played.

+1 for the OMJM. I've had mine not quite a year, it sees 1-3 hours of play a day. Just an amazing tone, silky smooth sound, sounds great plugged in and unplugged. I bought mine sight/sound/feel unseen/unheard/unfelt (?) after 2 years of teaching myself to play guitar on a beater. I knew it was exactly the guitar I wanted from live and studio recordings I've listened to so many times. When the NGD finally came, it was everything I had hoped for. Having the guitar of my dreams has been a very effective remedy for the minor GAS the has come up a couple times here and there. After a couple hours playing my OMJM I remember why I bought it and know there is not a guitar in the world I'd rather play or listen to.
Cheers ! |
Big congrats on the Marquis
I haven't had the opportunity to play a Marquis yet but, wonder how it compare to a OM-28V? |
I love the Marquis series stuff! Congrats on a fine OM!!
I bought my dream Martin a while back its a mixture of a D-28 Marquis and a D-42. http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSCN0970.jpg http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSCN0971.jpg http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSCN0972.jpg http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSCN0975.jpg |

I wouldn't exactly call it dream, but a OM-28 V would make me somewhat happy.:)

Thanks Shawn
That guitar on that song is a Adi/Brazilian Mayes SD-43. One of the best I've owned! Quote:

I voted Marquis, but only because HD28V wasn't there and not in a custom model anyway.
|
I'm currently saving up for an OM-28 Marquis. I've heard only great things about them. Hopefully someday...
|
i was hoping for an 18 in there somewhere.... that would get my vote
