Remember the Roadtrips?

I was sorting through some old photos on my computer and came across these - I have fond memories of the roadtrips with MacNichols and when I resided in the US. Good times.

I think I remember such a thing... might have even partook. Somehow I got the steel string German Dragon Bone one sent to me twice... them was the days...we were just kids then...I might have a few hundred photos and some videos of said packages contents.
Remember the small wood none guitar that sent around?

I never took part in the road trips - that was before my time on guitar forums. Sounds like fun. Once I learned about MacNichols in SLC it was my goal to get there. Then some major health issues prevented that for about a year. Once I was at the point where a six hour road trip was again feasible, Michael had closed his retail store and went all on-line before I could visit. :(

In the end, we've done fine carbon-wise. We had already owned a Rainsong WS-1000 for years. We had to mostly purchase the others blind, without test driving first. However, our visit with Kramster last February let us play a wide variety of everything. That proved expensive - my wife fell for the classic X7 and ended up with a woody version, and I eventually went for the X30 after our October visit. If we can put together another gathering in March, we should now be safe. :hmm:

I remember the trips, fondly. To get a guitar at your door and have time to check it out before passing it along was a great service for carbon fiber makers and players. Michael of MacNichols also sponsored two Carbon Fests where players and makers gathered to compare notes and make music. Sweet stuff.

What was the very first road trip?? X-5 ??

Though I remember the road trips, since I was active on that forum at the time, I didn't participate. I had found what I wanted in the Cargo and wasn't looking for anything else in CF … until the McPherson Touring, which is (in my opinion) a fully developed Cargo.

Kramster; Good question. I'll bet Michael could tell you. It would be interesting to have a record of all the road trips. Maybe Michael could get on line and tell us.

That brown Rainsong Parlor now resides in my home thanks to the Road Trips-

I may have bought that Lucky 13 off of the Road Trip too. I still own it.

Similar to me...I had a Cargo at that time, then a GXi I bought from Michael. The roadtrips had happened before this Canadian began wintering in SW Florida, so I couldn’t participate.

Possibly - I think this was the earlier version (pre 2013?) Before it was revoiced, although I did have the newer voiced one for a try too.

Not sure , but the baritone X-30 was my first roadtrip. I regret not trying the amicus when it did one.
