6 String Lap Steel Advice Needed

I am new to lap steel. I converted my 12 string to a 6 string and am using it as a learning instrument. I need to know if there is a good method book, one that is detailed with lots of instruction? So far I have been using the Hal Leonard Lap Steel Guitar book by Johnie Helms. A good book but not detailed enough. I lean towards playing in open D so far. I also play guitar in DADGAD, some, still learning. Is there a forum that is for only 6 string lap steel players? All advice is welcome, I need it. Thanks.

Here's a good player who teaches.

He starts the lesson around the 2:50 mark.

The Steel Guitar Forum, subforum "Steel without pedals". Mostly 6-string, also 7- and up strings. You don't need a strictly 6-string forum.

Troy looks like a great teacher. So does dobrojoe.com on steal with out pedals forum. Thanks to both of you for two great links.
