Hmmm....
And here I was, thinking I was going to enjoy this free wifi at the hotel.

Looking good, Ryan! Go with Boss Tom's suggestion for xtra depth.

Deep body, and please be careful with Tom's SJ!! He's a good guy.

i vote for the shallow body. Do a retro OM like Martin used to make. Nobody ever accused those old guitars of lacking in base response and the comfort level and friendliness of the box is so much better.

Thin body vote here.

Rosette looks great

dang, that is some good looking rosewood. I found the plank that the set came from at a salvage store stuck over in the corner with various old doors and pine paneling. Just wood prospecting. The owner of the store thought it was Honduras rosewood and priced it accordingly. Nevertheless the price was right and like any prospecting, its just fun to find something useful. From the level of oxidation on the outside of the plank it was pretty clear that it had been cut long ago.

Three deep body votes and three shallow body votes. This is basically what it's like in our shop everyday - Steve votes build a guitar, I vote take a nap. At least y'all are good at making my time alone comfortable.

I know someone can break the tie!

John, I don't think I had ever seen quite the amount of gunk that was on this set before I cleaned it up. It was nasty. I took a substantial amount of time to get all of the slime off and find the beauty. But hey, it cleaned up real nice. This one took a treasure hunter's flair. Nice find.

Thanks! Steve will be relieved to know the vote went his way. Deep body it is!

Not to complicate your day but...... I agree completely with John on the thinner body. Of the guitars I've owned, the deepest bass was found on an old 000-28.

JHere's a 5 minute video I did for y'all following along. I hope it views okay. I'll reupload it in HD when I get home. Thanks for following along!

Or you can watch it here if it doesn't come up: F1 Center Seam video

If you want more like this let me know. I am no natural on video. :)

Jay, are you just giving me a hard time? ;) Sorry you got in too late. I haven't done anything critical yet, but my mind has already tallied the vote.

Jay Lowe 10-22-2015 12:32 PM

Ryan - I was married so..... dissenting opinions are the norm for me. Looking forward to the build!

TomB'sox 10-22-2015 12:39 PM

So what kind of DQ was that?

nacluth 10-22-2015 12:41 PM

A Turtle Pecan Cluster Blizzard - it was great! I want another one today, but my belt says, "Not so fast!"

Steve Kinnaird 10-22-2015 02:45 PM

Lookin' good! Keep it up Ryan.

Steve
