Tele Day at the studio...

Today I was doing overdubs and mixes for three songs and having a blast.

Snarly, snarky, twangy. I was overdubbing lead and rhythm parts and serving as producer, engineer, and guitarist. Later, when I played back the mixes for the executive producer and we got to my lead parts she yelled, "Oh, Yeah!" and just about jumped out of her seat. That was pretty gratifying.

And, yes, the plastic is still on the neck pickup. http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/ubb/smile.gif I brought in the ES-335 as well but didn't use it.

Whenever I see step well diffusers, it makes me want to clear the path to the drum set, currently obstructed by piles of timber...

Yeah, those are part of the Live End/Dead End control room design. They were designed by Dr. Peter D'Antonio at RPG Diffusers.

Are you in the middle of a construction job?

Hey Bob - Is that a Standard Tele? I'm looking to add some twang to the herd, but don't want to break the bank doing it...

DupleMeter 06-06-2015 08:40 PM

Nice Tele...they are great guitars. You can get a lot of mileage out of one.

It's a 2013 American Standard Tele. It's nothing special to look at but it is working out really well. I did a write-up if you are interested, HERE. I've been doing the same as you lately - adding sounds on the cheap. For some reason, probably the shouldering of the neck and the fret work, the American Standards have seemed to be a good entry point for me in the Fenders. I do my buying on the basis of sound and feel.

I ran it on the neck pickup with the treble all the way on and the volume pulled back a tad to mellow it just a little... but not much. Snark city! I was yanking and banking with all the twang you'd expect.

Very nice! I have a yellow Baja Tele that I like alot. Sounds great with the late 60's Silverface Champ I just got off Craigslist.

I've tried it with my '59 Tweed Deluxe reproduction for some really nice sounds but now you've done it. Gonna have to try it through the '71 Champy.

I'm late to this party too. For electrics I was a serious Strat guy until I was given a Tele. Then I found out what the appeal was for so many. They are great guitars.

You gotta have a Tele, its that simple. Its a way of playing. Strat is another way of playing. I treasure both.

and, i second this idea!

i was a strat and les paul guy for a long time but a couple of years ago finally plunked down some hard earned cash for a fender american vintage 58 tele. everyone who plays it says it is the best they have ever played!

play music!

Hey All,

My next guitar is a tele or well maybe the big hollowbody gretsch - no I think the tele. But then I heard this firebird with 3 P90s and coil splitting - wow - the tonal variety. It can't really do tele but I think it can do the strat honk. At the end of the day though it'll be the tele - Don Rich, Luther Perkins, James Burton and then there is Volkaert, Paisley, Waylon, Keith and so many more... The rockabilly Gretsch can wait...
