HALLAND OM-H Ancient Cedar/Brazilian Rosewood for Josh Isaacs

The Golden Era Guitar has been getting quite a bit of interest and commissions the past month, even from clients all the way in USA, Canada, Europe and Australia. And this latest build is of no exception:

So a while back, Josh Isaacs (jji) was made aware of a particular luthier by the name of Gage Halland. He was first taken by Gage's workmanship, and then later, by playing a very special Greenfield in "The Tree" which Gage was a part of creating. When I started up The Golden Era Guitar with Gage Halland on my roster, Josh saw an ideal opportunity to jump on board to order an absolute dream guitar for himself - a Halland OM-H Ancient Cedar/Brazilian Rosewood.

Now, what would a build thread be without some photos:

Check out the quality of this BRW - gorgeous quartersawn set with a nice depth to it

The Ancient Cedar is as good as it gets with its extremely tight and uniform grain

And here is Gage working on another guitar at the same time in perfect African Blackwood. Love the logo he stamps onto the tops too!

On top of thanking Gage and Marcus, I need to say thank you to our own Diamond Dave. Dave had a HUGE hand in helping us find this impossible set of Brazilian Rosewood. Thank you buddy!!!

Dave gets the credit on that one. It’s an astonishing set and I’m eternally grateful that my boy found it for me.

Looking forward to seeing this one come together :)

Good lord me too! Rumor has it Gage may be a VERY talented guitar maker :)

Thank you! The cedar comes from a billet that a wood hoarder had sitting against a wall for years. When Gage met him he noticed it and knew it was special, but the guy who owned it had had it so long it was like furniture...part of the background. Ultimately Gage bought it from him and once he milled it he got ten tops in total, and they are all literally perfect.

It really is! Can't wait for Josh to get his hands on this - I am positive he is not going to believe his ears and eyes

Gage is currently off at the VIGF blowing minds. But meanwhile, here is where Josh's guitar is in the build process. Rims are fitted with the neck/tail blocks. Josh is going for an arm bevel with this build so the bevel block too has been fitted. I love how unique Gage's build process is, his triple (?) sides, not to mention how incredibly clean his work is - check out that arm bevel block!
