Acoustic guitar for $400?
 

Hello,

I'm currently considering to buy my 3rd acoustic guitar, preferable with Spruce top and Rosewood Back&sides.
My current choice is Yamaha FG830

Here are some guitars that i can get from my local store:
1. Sigma GTCE+
2. Sigma DME+ / GME+
3. Sigma GMC-STE+
4. Sire R3 DZ
5. Cort Gold D6 / O6 (little bit expensive, but if it's worth it i'm going to safe more and get this instead)
6. Cort L300 VF
7. Cort L200 ATV
8. Cort GA5F ZR
9. Cort Earth 200ATV
10. Cort Earth 100F
11. Guild M-240E

Is there any guitars from the list above that will be a better option than Yamaha FG840? Also haven't heard of Sigma and Sire brand, are they any good?

If you have other guitar recommendation that cost around $400 that's not in the list above, please tell me about it in the comment! I will try to find them in the place where i live.

Does Eastman make anything in this price range? I hear nothing but good things about them.

The Sigma guitars are very good for the money. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

For me the best thing close to your budget and with the wood combo you specify, the Alvarez MD70CE is all solid and brand new can be had for $600 usd.
Above the budget, but a great guitar. And all solid wood.

If you can find a used Alvarez MD350 they have a bit more “bling” but as they are older, can be had cheaper.

I would say either the Yammie or the Guild -
not sure if that model has a solid wood top -but that would be a
minimum -even solid back and sides would sound better with time.
with both these brands typically spend a little more gets a lot more.

My former Yamaha FG800 was a great guitar, and not that different from the FG830/840. My kid's FS820 is also excellent.

I traded the FG800 for an Eastman PCH Grand Auditorium - it has a solid spruce top, laminate back/sides, includes electronics and a cutaway (Taylor style), and comes with a 1-3/4 inch nut. Street price is easily $300 or even less.

And I think the biggest bang for your buck in that price range is the Eastman E1D - street price just under $400 as of earlier this year, and it is an all solid wood instrument (solid spruce/solid sapele) with a 1-3/4 inch nut.

See if you can find some Washburn guitars to audition.
I have been very impressed with them.
So much that I bought one.

It's not rosewood but Sapele but I played a Taylor Big Baby just last weekend that shocked me with how good it sounded for $450. I don't think they're all like that maybe it was just a good one but might be an option.
