The Best Youtube guitar lessons for learning songs.
 

Hi,
I'm hoping the threat can be useful for beginners looking for good youtube lessons on youtube and or payed member sites. *

I want to learn to play a lot of famous songs on acustic guitar for the campfire and sing along with them as well.

This is what i call a good or ideal Guitar lesson

* Shows Chords + tabs on Screen
* Shows the Beat (time signature or something demonstrate the beat "1 and 2 and..." ) and strumming patterns.
* In the end demonstrates the whole guitar lesson with Lyrics + onscreen chords + singing / mp3 version of song.
* Not a lot of fluff talk ,short and to the point.
* Updated: * Song / chords are close or equal to original song. and if not it's written "easy version" "alternative version" etc.

The only channel i found that does this so far is

I would love if any of you could recommend other good youtubbers that include all of these requirements in their videos.

I guess it depends on what songs you like and your level of ability.

Well, I’m not sure he meets all your criteria., but I’m a big fan of “Shut up and play .” He absolutely nails the songs and gives lessons on a lot of the artists that interest me. How he records his lessons also make it very easy to see both hands. He does give a short intro to each song but it’s interesting stuff!

These don’t necessarily meet all your criteria, but I’ve found them very helpful in learning songs:

I agree that all those things are good to have in a video lesson.

However, most video lessons do not have all of them and you will miss out on some good lessons, IMO, if you insist on each lesson meeting all of those criteria.

They are in portuguese as this is a Brazilian channel, but have everything you asked for otherwise. I’ve never found the language issue (I don’t speak Portuguese) to be an impediment.

Otherwise I’ll echo Shutupandplay (excellent lessons), Jerry’s Guitar Bar, and Justin Sandercoe.

I have a soft spot for Shut Up And Play Your Guitar. That guy is a heck of a teacher.

I also like the one you already mentioned, Alan Robinson. He has some great obscure stuff I like, like Pink Floyd's Um, Wot's a Deal from Obscured By Clouds.

His lesson for Glen Campbell's Gentle On My Mind is really good and worth it if you have the patience to stick it out. It's not an easy song.

I like Marty Schwartz or Swiftlessons for beginners / intermediates (the latter being myself) and Paul Davids for intermediates/advanced

I have yet to find a single site for learning new songs.
I use youtube and type the song title followed by "guitar lesson".
Often I will combine info from several teachers for my final version.

Lately playsongnotes.com has been very helpful.

Regarding my level: I'm intermediate and i love fingerpicking, I play on a classical guitar: silent Yamaha SLG200NW. I am also working on strumming patterns and do play some songs that are just chords.
So far I learned Halejulia (fingerpicking by Alan Robinson), Edd Sheeran I see fire by GuitarZero2Hero and the original Dust in the wind by Kansas (fingerpicking)

I guess another cirteria is that the lessons approximate the original songs and dont't deviate too much from it's melody.

Which channels are worth the payed membership? I know the ones mentioned give a lot of free tips

- They seem really good! They sing, show chords, tabs and technique :)

Regarding Paul Davids: Is it worth the paid membership to get his Tabs? I think he has some nice fingerpicking songs.

Remembering songs and all the chords we learn can be difficult, do you guys keep a library on google drive / other webhosting services from the youtube lessons you've learned songs from or how do you keep track of all those songs?

Dan Holloway has a great site. it runs about 15.00/month for a subscription but you have access to hundreds of tabs and he does at least one video for each song. Essentially all of his stuff (that I've seen on the site) is fingerstyle and some is quite advanced (at least for my intermediate level skill set).

I also like Paul Davids' site but more so for music theory and his overall insight as opposed to any direct teaching aspect.
