Emerald X20...getting close!

I couldn't resist posting this. When I awoke this morning and checked my email there was one from Kevin with an invoice with my remaining balance. Now the painful wait dramatically increased. I figure maybe it gets shipped this Friday so I should have it in a week or two. I can't wait to A/B it against the X30 to see which one I prefer. I'll be going over it with a microscope (well not literally) every nook and cranny every note of the fretboard. The pain is real!

Congratulations! :)

Kevin may just be getting a jump start on April 1st.

kramster 03-13-2019 03:57 PM

You are gonna really really like it...just sayin'

Of that I have no doubt. I am really curious if I'll prefer the X20 or X30 voice. I really dig the X30 so the X20 has its work cut out.

Congrats! You probably should get the X7 ordered now so you don't have to wait so long.

Congrats! The X20 is nice. I'll be looking forward to your impressions, and hope the wait won't be long now. Hopefully, instead of "this one" vs "that one," you will discover the place that each one fills. I see some "When this new one comes in, I will decide which I like better..." posts from time to time. For me, when a new one comes in, I find myself saying, "I really like this one, TOO!" ;)

Haha you're a funny guy. I have looked at the X7, especially the newer design and the X10 for that matter, I think the body size of them would be a little too small for my personal preference (dreadnought guy here). I don't think I would be able to go smaller than X20 body size.

Thanks Jim and I know exactly what you're saying. New guitar disease can cause all sorts of bad things to follow. I have learned that lesson before luckily. The new guitar gets all the attention, at least for the first month or so. I love the size of the X30 its very comfortable for a big guitar. I'll always have a use for it even if I end up preferring the X20. I'm hoping to remain at just 3 acoustic guitars. There is one itch I have and that's for a nylon. I wouldn't risk paying for a carbon fiber nylon as it's a little too much to satisfy that particular itch. I did read your post in the nylon thread about the Taylor. Ironically I was eyeballing the Academy series nylon they have for a few weeks now. Who knows what the future might hold.

That nylon X7 being sold by Wicked would fill three (5) needs. First you'd get a chance to try out some nylon. Second, you would not have the maintenance you'll have with the Taylor. Third, you might save a little money since Wicked bought high and is selling low. Fourth, you'd have a beautiful guitar for travel. Fifth, you'd flesh out your jewelry collection with yet another Emerald.

Just saying.

Yeah I seen the ad and most definitely a great deal for someone but like I said in the above post the X7 body would be a little too small for my comfort zone. You're right about the Taylor though, maintaining another wood guitar is not a very welcoming thought. I hope the itch goes away, and it might when that X20 gets here!

I understand, not sure how a X20 compares to the X30, but I think you will end up loving both. My X20 is one awesome guitar, I don't consider the price "cheap" at all, but you would have to spend a lot more money to beat it I think. I suspect the X30 is the same?? Enjoy...

I spent about a half hour with the A12e-n, a couple times... I thought it sounded better than all the other "entry level" nylon guitars I tried... and then I tried a 312ce-n. Again, the consideration of sound/tone vs cost. The problem with hearing/playing something nice: it's hard to go back. ;)

I did start another thread here about the SLG (Silent Guitar) as a "starter" nylon, before making the CF nylon investment. Sorry for the OT.

May I ask when you originally ordered?

I was eyeballing that myself (for the wife). She has been wanting a CF Nylon. She wants a big fat classical neck though, and I think this one is a narrow crossover style.
