Puppies...! Now you can't equate dying a Brazilian RW bridge with not liking puppies, children, or America! Though I do get your point. I'm not a big fan of staining or dying wood in most cases. Rather, I'd choose wood with the color and character I want. However, my customer wanted black trim and appointments on this guitar, and he also wanted the tone from a Brazilian bridge. I haven't dyed the bridge yet as I want the customer to see it ala natural with the guitar first, and I see my customer tomorrow.

Thanks for the input mischultz, and to Nemo and Todd. I'll tell my customer that three AGF members have voted to not dye the bridge :)

Another vote for the natural bridge--it's so dark anyway. If you wax it, it will be almost black.

Me too!!! It is so close to black already. But I too like the subtle grain. And I see some subtle grain in the fingerboard too! Beautiful pyramid bridge, and the whole package is BOSS

Hey Steve and Paul, you are right, the bridge is very dark and has similar markings as the fingerboard. I do wax my bridges, and this one could end up close to black. So still unanimous for natural. I'll let you know what we end up with tomorrow.

Okay folks, spare the puppies...we are leaving the bridge natural :D Paul is really pleased with the guitar and agrees the bridge will be pretty dark once I get some wax on it.

The only thing left is the headstock laminate. We talked about inlay options and agreed on a concept. I will be out of pocket for a week, so I won't be able to get to it until then. Still targeting lacquer by month end.

Back in the shop after some time hiking and golfing in Sedona. Sure was nice to get into some warm sunshine. Hopefully, Michigan starts warming up soon.

I got the laminate for the face of the headstock finished up and glued on this week. With that, this guitar is now ready for finishing. Attached are a couple of pictures of the guitar ala white along with a shot of the headstock.

My other two builds are also complete. I should get the pores filled on all three this week and plan on shooting lacquer next week.

That's a wonderful looking instrument - the mahogany makes my head spin!! The headstock is very tastefullly done and just icing on the cake.

I got out and played the first time today - just nine holes/two balls as it was a little windy, but I'll be back out tomorrow!

Can't wait to see your finished product!

That's a beautiful headstock Ken! You do build gorgeous instruments!

It's good you were able to leave Michigan behind for a bit- the weather come March is brutal! And April means spring might be coming soon. The summers are glorious and the fall colors are beautiful, but the winters are long in the upper Midwest. Good weather for heading to the shop to build guitars, though :)

I always love seeing guitars in the white and that back is beautiful. The whole design works together so well. I find it so satisfying to see guitar builds come together so I can only imagine how exciting it is for you - the luthier!
