Thank You All for the nice comments! The neck has spiffy diamonds to compliment the Abalone purfling.

BTW, I just raised the action on the BIG GUN to just over 6/64" to use it mostly for Slide. The neck adjustment widget John devised is working GREAT. Very convenient!

And, I am really loving having the OVERLORD back after its trip to John for neck copying. Last night Cindy was online and I started playing the OVERLORD . She quickly turned me and said "That Guitar sounds wonderful!" Am I lucky or what?

Neck is on...

John reports the neck is on the body, and he intends to have it strung by Monday so Han can play it when he comes to pick up his beauty!

Woohoo

Thank you Nemoman Can always count on you to follow a build.

That is one of the prettiest arm bevels I have ever seen. That wood is amazing. Congrats. I have been playing my "Kathy" John Kinnaird the last two days, she still looks amazing on it, but the guitar is getting better and better all of the time.

Congrats Paul!

Road trip started today, just got in to Atlanta and super tired from a long drive. Then the pictures of your new guitar totally perked me up Paul! And what’s this I hear of strumming chords on your brand new Mitchell?!?

Guitars44me 01-22-2021 08:23 PM

Please do!

Yes, Han! Please give it a vigorous work out. Or two!!!!
I believe you will LOVE the Manzer Wedge with the bevels...

The Big Gun is the same shape and it feels a comfy as a 000-12 to me. Really amazing.

Watch out you don't immediately order another! Working with John is terribly addictive.

Drive carefully and have a blast!

And thank you both, Nemoman and Tom Bsox. I am so glad you have enjoyed this Build thread. And your JK builds too!

Close up of the top purfling. Note thin abalone between thin fiddleback Mahogany strips. I REALLY LIKE this. I had been worried the abalone would be too much bling, but it seems nice and subtle in the pics!

Thanks Tom
When i first read the “Kathy” guitar comment i was thinking of the dancing girl since Kathy Wingert’s daughter did the inlay then it occurred to me who Kathy was and which guitar you were referencing. I had forgotten about that persimmon guitar and how much trouble we had getting the face right on the inlay. I hope that thing is beginning to open up nicely. I felt like it had a lot of potential.

I used to live in the Atlanta exurbs. Great city. Careful though, I think there is a high percentage of covid infection there.

That just looks like a comfortable guitar to play!

mountainguitar 01-24-2021 05:37 PM

Wow! That's gorgeous! And it looks like a "Pablo package"guitar. I look forward to hearing Paul's report. I'm sure it will be amazing! Congrats to John and Paul for another successful and beautiful build.
