Milk and Honey

I'm looking at Jackson C Frank's Milk and Honey and having trouble switching from Am/G to Am/F#. Or, at least, trouble switching without a huge gap between the chords. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.

I just grabbed a guitar and had no problems switching if I used my pinky for the G and then my thumb for the F#.

What fingers are you using?

Ah, right. The reason I didn't think of that is that my thumb joint starts to play up if I do thumb wrap rounds. I don't try it any more. So my problem is catching the F# from Am position which seems to involve a complete change of fingering.

For the F#, try moving your middle finger from the fourth string to the sixth string. If you are fingerpicking, just skip over the fourth string (since you already have the E note from the open first string)

Yes! Many thanks for your help.

No help from me on playing tips, but glad to see folks still working up Jackson C Frank songs.

I fell in love with Jackson C Frank songs after I first heard 'Blues run the game' at local Folk Club many years ago. Not sure my playing will ever be good enough to do him justice, though!
