John Pearse #650 Bluegrass strings on a D41??
I picked up a set of John Pearse PB Bluegrass #650 strings at a music close out sale for $2. Will these strings work on My D41 that’s set up for 13-56 medium strings? I’ve never used this gauge strings before so I don’t know if any tweaks Need to be made to the setup.

They'll only work if you wear a flannel shirt and a straw hat.

Should work fine. I doubt you'll notice much difference and shouldn't require any changes to your setup. Sometimes when going from a standard set of 13's to a standard set of 12's you might notice a very slight lowering of the action but with that mixed set I doubt you'll notice much if anything. I'll be curious to hear how you like them.
Don't know why Bruce wants you to dress like a scarecrow? |
Another way of saying that is; yes, they'll work fine.
I go back and forth between bluegrass and mediums with no problem, based on whatever I get a good deal on. |

My Martin D-18 is set up for medium gauge strings, but sometimes I put Bluegrass gauge strings on it instead. In fact, a set of John Pearse 80/20 strings in Bluegrass gauge is what's on there now. Wade Hampton Miller |
The 650s will play just fine, and I bet sound wonderful.
Just a FYI... according to the folks at Breezy Ridge the string tension is 173 lbs. |
