Overdrive with Fishman Performer
 

On some songs, I'd like to add a little hair when soloing over my loops. Not really a boost per se, but overdrive. I have tried the usual (RC Boost with gain up, Tubescreamers) through the Performer and they just don't sound right to me. Would a multi-fx unit be better? I'm ok with that because the added fx would be great. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it! Thanks

Get a Tubescreamer with a clean blend knob. The Voodoo labs sparkle drive and the Truetone Route 66 both have clean blends that you can add the overdrive and keep your clean signal intact.

Sounds good. After doing some more research, alot of players seem to use the Boss Blues Driver as well. Any experience with that? Thanks!

I believe it does what you’re seeking as well as be a pure acoustic instrument preamp, electric overdrive and everything in between.

Awesome!! Thank you so much Marc! :) It’s really not the amp, but the interaction with piezo pickups. Does it work well with piezo’s?

Absolutely - The RH works for piezo and magnetic pickups equally as well.
It takes the edge off the quack and harsh overtones but remains clean when you want it clean and can blend in just the desired amount of harmonic distortion into your sound.
Also, you can run your acoustic with the overdrive circuit and get some nice warm clean jazz or overdriven sounds out of output 2 with the speaker sim engaged

I´m using a Harley Benton (Joyo JF 14) American sound pedal through a magnetic pickup into my Loudbox Artist (it is an amp simulation). Mike Dawes uses this one too. Its pretty noisy so he uses a noise gate.

Cool...but I think the real concern is with a piezo pickup, not so much the amp. Have you tried it with piezo's? Thanks

It should work with a piezo.
Its a little bit more edgy but sounds ok for me.

This looks fantastic Marc! How well would it work with Taylor’s ES2 system?

We haven’t tried the ES2 system specifically.
I will have to go to local GC and see if they have one to test out.

Some of the pickups that we’ve tried are: element, matrix, b-band, sunrise, cole Clark guitar with UST, OBT + mic inside blended and dazzos.

The cole Clark was pretty dialed and smooth sounding but we managed to get some neat sounds and added some grit back in to cut a little more live.
