GIBSON/MESA BOOGIE
 
Gibson and Mesa, interesting. I think Randall is cashing in and stepping out, but who knows. I have been a huge boogie supporter, currently own 3:MK2c+, MKV, Lonestar Special. Have owned MK1, MK3 previously. As far as Gibson, I own a R9 Custom shop Les Paul and am quite happy (much better than my Norlin era pancake Les Paul from early 70's.

According to the articles and interviews, Randall is not stepping away. He's going to focus on design,etc and let someone else run the finance, etc. part of the business.

I'm a huge Mesa fan and love mine too. And my Gibsons. I'm hoping this works.

Another Boogie-head here. I'm a big believer in "The best amp you can get for the money is always a used Mesa".

So this won't affect me at all. If I buy another amp in my lifetime it'll be a TA-30 to replace my TA-15. I don't need the power, but I wouldn't mind the Effects loop and the built in verb...

Could mean a reimagining/revival of the '50s/60s Gibson amp lineup, possibly outsourced to Mexico/Pac-Rim so as to keep costs/street price down and not compete with the Mesa offerings...

Time will tell, but things could get interesting... :guitar:

I had a boogie 40 years ago. Never could figure it out.
Recently I played the Fillmore 25. I totally bonded.

Yeah. When you have two channels with 12 knobs each it gets weird. Especially since the eq controls seem to really interact with each other!

Mine is very straightforward. Two channels with a TOTAL of 8 knobs! Okay... There are 5 mini-toggles, but they are 5 very very obvious functions and simple decisions :D

So here are my babies, I forgot to mention the Rosette
L-R: MK2c+ on top of a thiele1x 12 cabinet, MkV, Lonestar Special,Rosette in front (the Orange just had to jump in)

I am fully expecting the infamous Gibson RoboTuners to make an appearance on the Mesa/Boogie amps as a remote control for the knobs!

One better: the Fender Cyber Twin. The knobs would auto rotate to match whatever preset you switched to.

I ran through a Boogie back in the day. Awesome amps! This seems like a good move for Gibson.

LOL, it'll be on the refurbished amps.

Thinking this is a good move for Gibson assuming that they don't change the production of the amps and try and tinker with classic Mesa amps. Great way for Gibson to get in the amp business and also a way to help prevent Fender, or another major competitor, from acquiring Mesa.

Watch for Gibson amps to come out in year.

You probably remember that Gibson was in the amp business decades ago, with the GA series tube amps. They never had the commercial success of Fender or Marshall, but they did have some good sounding amps.

More recently, they were a distributor for the LAB series guitar amps that MOOG made, who were also owned by Norlin.
