NGD - SCGC 00 Skye (Custom)

Thought I'd like to share my newly arrived custom 00 Skye with you guys (if my attempt to upload the photos works).

I appreciate it won't be to everyone's taste but, based on an afternoon playing a standard 00 Skye 3 or 4 years ago I finally placed an order last August. It was completed in December but delays over the CITIES documentation meant it has only just arrived to me here in the UK.

Based on the standard 00 Skye I upgraded the following:

An absolutely stunningly figured Master Grade Cocobolo back and sides
Flawless Master Grade Italian Alpine spruce top
Cutaway (sacrilege you may say but I do occasionally venture up there)
Flamed Koa binding
Violin purling
Ebony headstock overlay with torch
Ebony tuner buttons
Abalone rosette and SCGC logo

I think it looks (and sounds) great - or at least it would in the hands of a 'real' player!

Hopefully here are a few photos:

What a stunning beauty of a guitar!!!

Enjoy that one, play it many thousands of hours in both good health and circumstance...

Be prepared for it to "change sound" over the coming months... I took my Goodall Grand Concert home "fresh off the bench", and it changed so much in the next three weeks, I could scarcely believe it! Took about 6-9 months before the tone and volume "settled in" to what it is today... I guess it takes awhile for all that wood to figure out it's not part of a tree anymore, but part of this exquisite resonating instrument!

That is one of the prettiest guitars I've seen. Congratulations.

Isn't this like the 3rd or 4th Skye purchased by AGF members in the past 2 weeks? They're multiplying like rabbits!!

Congrats on a great guitar!
