Tree Harp
I was unaware that people assembled harps in trees. They sound magical.
Any players here? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z1NiwQJRLk |
I've not constructed a harp in a tree, but I do play wire-strung harps (Gaelic clarsach), standard nylon lever ("celtic") harp, Chinese guzheng ... I agree the sound is wonderfully evocative.
The type of harp here is closer to kantele - scandanavian type of harp. Folks have been experimenting with harps, zithers, lyres for millennia. A wonderful thing about outdoor harps is that the wind will play upon them.. |
I have to imagine there is some tuning stability issues
|
One would think! :) Fortunately there aren't that many strings.
*on the other hand, that tree frame may be more stable than some of my "proper" harps. |

Thanks for the info, catt. I’ve got some reading to do now concerning harps. Just one more rabbit hole to explore. Hearing the wind play a tree harp would seem truly magical! Cheers, Tom |
