Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin

I tried one of these last week and was blown away by the sound and playability. But before I take the plunge are there any other models and makes to try. I'm not too familiar with archtops but I want one. Lol. :D

The Kingpin is a good, relatively inexpensive start to an interest in archtop playing, quite a few forum members recommend them and I had one for a few years. Other models in a similar to slightly higher price range are the Eastman guitars, some of which have carved tops which is a bonus. I have one of their pressed top models, an AR 371 CE which I like a lot. It has an acceptable acoustic sound, albeit a bit quiet, but electrically it performs well, a bit 175ish. :)

Thanks very much. Well I decided to go with the Godin and it arrives in a few days. Here’s hoping that it’s a good one.

Good pick. Best budget arch top by a mile.

I own two - an all-acoustic 5th Avenue and a CW II dual-P90 cutaway electric - and that's an understatement...
