OnSong users?
 

A friend just told me about this app. For any of you you who use it, likes, dislikes? Easy to use and upload chords/lyrics?

Yes, it's easy to use. You can import from many places including Dropbox, etc. the latest update speeds up set list creation to ridiculous speed. Just tag the songs and create a list. Boom. Done.

You can use Bluetooth page turners too, transpose, etc. very nice.

I use it a lot. There is a steep learning curve but their online videos are good and a google search helped me find whatever I needed to know. They have a companion mac app that I don't like. I type up songs in text edit on my MacBook and then airdrop it to my iPad and open right into onsong. That works better then their mac companion app.

It's powerful and flexible.

I bought it a couple months ago and it's best the thing I bought in a while and now I can't imagine not having it. It will take a little time learn the app and import and tweak the songs you want but after that you're good to go.

Basically its the only choice of apps for music viewing with the flexibility it provides. i have been using it since it first came out 7 years ago and i have had good times and bad with it. i opened a support ticket with the developer because some of my songs went missing in my database and their results were inconclusive. so just be sure you back up your database regularly (thats my problem too lazy) but its a great app. i have people in my band that use it young and old and the older folks tend to struggle with the interface. but just like anything in life the more time you put into something the better you will be at it. including technology.

I've been using it for every gig and for songwriting for 4 years. I love it. It also allows me to backup everything to my iPad mini and iPhone so no matter which device I'm using I have exactly the same information available to me. I play about 50 shows a year.

I use it and love it. Very easy to get songs in - one group I play with has their entire catalog stored in a shared dropbox folder - took me 5 minutes, and I had everything. I use the Safari plugin to grab songs from the Internet, or just create a text file on my PC and stick in Dropbox. Creating setlists - easy peasy. Backing tracks (for practice or performance) - easy. Autoscrolling - easy. Transposing keys or getting chords for the fret destroyer, I mean capo - easy.

Did I mention, it's easy to use?

I use it exclusively and like it a lot. However, for performance, i'll typically bring a binder with print outs from OnSong.

Just curious, Dave - why do you bring the binder? The 2 reasons I could think of - binders don't run out of power and you can easily put 2 or 3 pages side-by-side on a music stand.

I have been using it for a few months. Before that I used "Guitar Tapp" which is free.
On Song has more features, Guitar Tapp is easier to use.

Bingo! Plus, I had a page turner flake out on stage once. I may, in the future, reconsider.

I've had no success getting it to work with importing files from Ultimate Guitar website. Any one able to make this work?

I do that all the time. When you install OnSong, it installs a safari plugin. Find your song on ultimateguitar using safari, use the "add to onsong" plugin, open onsong, and bingo, there it is.

I set all of my songs in OnSong to be seen without page turning or scrolling. Works really well for me. I can't imagine going back to having a big binder on a stand in front of me now.

The group that I mentioned before actually has timing set on all of the songs to the tempo at which they play, so the autoscroll works pretty good. I've set up some of my songs with actual timing triggers and the metronome so that the scrolling is perfect. A lot of work to set that up though.

Another benefit that I guess I implied, but didn't spell out - if you're playing in a band, everyone has the same thing (assuming you all use OnSong).
