Removing nut without damaging finish

I want to change the nut on my Guild F-412

It looks like the headstock was finished after the nut was installed. I can see just a little bit of a fillet of finish where the peg head veneer meets the nut.

How can I remove the nut without chipping the finish?

You have to razor blade the edges of the nut, so you have a break here point for the finish

A utility knife with a fresh blade is easy -

We like to use an exacto knife with a freshblade. Lay a piece of tape down so you have an edge to follow.
