Grover Sta-Tite 18:1 97 Series Tuner Wanted
 

I'm looking for a single Grover Sta-Tite 18:1 97 Series Tuner in gold with horizontal fitting for a slot head guitar.

It is for the low E string (bass/top set), photo below.

The other tuners are in good condition, so don't need or want to purchase a full set.

Nuts, I have extra treble sides but no bass side tuners. It looks like you're missing a D tuner, not low E.

It's definitely Low E. The guitar was hand built but not completed, just need the one tuner, so seems a waste to have to buy a whole set.

Those are the first version of the 18:1 Sta-Tites, which are reversible.

I guess the tuners have been adjusted judging by the marks on the screw head.

Do you know if your tuners are reversible?

Here we go .
Due to an unfortunate accident I have a broken D string tuner . Grover 18:1 for slotted headstock .
Here's the twist . It is a lefty , so I am figuring that I would need what most would call a treble side tuning machine .
This is a personal use prototype guitar , so I don't care about being a visual match .
Maybe I can trade you something for 1 .

The early versions have a gap on the backside of the baseplate. To remove the worm gear, remove the crown gear. Underneath that, there is a thin plate of spring steel that holds the worm gear in place. Remove the worm gear shaft and flip it over. Reassemble.
The current StaTites have the worm gear inserted from the side, and secured with a small screw on the end. Those are not reversible.

An adjustment may have been attempted, but that screw does not function that way. It only holds the gear and post in place. Tension is provided with the spring steel plate. However, those tuners may have had the posts swapped out to be used on a slotted headstock.

No, They are the newer version of the cast base tuners.
