BUT: i still would like to have an electric guitar. i don't play electric at all these days[no amp]. i play out alot acoustically. never did like a thin body electric . what would be a good substitute ? i'm mainly acoustic player but have enough acoustics. thanks.

Have you looked at a Godin Kingpin?

Sounds like you might want a semi-hollow body? Are you familiar with the Gibson (or Epiphone) ES-335 and similar guitars?

hmm i'll check out the Godin, looks interesting!

Quite honestly, I am going through a similar phase. I don't play much electric, and I didn't play ANY electric when I went a year without an amp. I currently have a Fender Mustang amp where I can stream backing tracks and it has opened up a new world for me.

Not having an amp is your real issue. There is no motivation to play an electric without an amp. So, if you are dead set that you aren't going to at least get a $100-300 amp to pair with it, I'd say sell the Tele and get something like a Martin 0 or 00 to tinker with.

A hollowbody without an amp still wouldn't do much for me...

Not all "hollowbodies" are the same, some have quite a bit of acoustic presence.

The Kingpin is a good example of an inexpensive model that sounds decent unplugged, and then of course, great plugged in.

Mind you, a really great acoustic archtop is a whole 'nuther ball 'o wax, but that's not what the OP is looking for either...

Gretsch 6120 or similar. (Electromatic version if you want to save some dollars).
