What's your favorite store that sells acoustic guitars?

Mine is Music Go Round located in Burnsville, MN.

For me it is hands down, Mass Street Music, in Lawrence, Kansas. It is on Massachusetts street, hence the name. It was founded by Jim Baggett in the '70's and he has hired a really knowledgeable and pleasant staff. I have bought at least 3 guitars and a couple acoustic amps and various other items over about 15 years or so. I am far from a top notch player, but they have always treated me like I was the most important person in the shop! I believe Wade H. Miller on our forum is very familiar with Jim and the boys. A shout out to Eric, Josh, Mike and all the techs and reps there. Eric has always been really helpful and truly knows the guitars. If you are in the Kansas City area I highly recommend a visit! Rock Chalk Jayhawk, Go KU!

For me it has to be 2. Near home in Lafayette Indiana it is Don's Guitars. Small place with short daily hours. But when you walk in it's always "How you doing?" and they call you by your first name.

The other is in Indianapolis. Since I work in Indy I will stop by Arthur's Music Store. They have been around since 1952. Great atmosphere and have always been treated right.

It was Mandolin Brothers in Staten Island and Acoustic Roots outside of Philly.

Both sadly closed.

I'm with you, Stan Jay was a great guy. Very sad when Bee and there two children decided to close the store.

Another vote for Mass Street Music in Lawrence, Kansas. I live about 30 minutes away and stop in whenever I can. I have never bought a guitar from them, since they seem to sell the model I'm looking for before I can get a hold of one, but it is a cool shop and a fun place to visit.

I spent the summer of 1998 living in Manhattan and took many a ferry ride over to Staten Island for the sole purpose of visiting Mandolin Brothers. Stan had no problem and even encouraged me to try the pre-War D28 they had hanging on the wall.

Ended up buying a Deering Six-string Banjo from Stan...

Which I traded in to Acoustic Roots a few years later when I purchased my OM/PW from Larry at Acoustic Roots/Medley Music.

I've never been to Mandolin Bros, but I do have a Martin Custom Shop OM-21 Special that was one of their shop orders;

It's a fantastic guitar with a big bold tone that surprises my dreadnought playing friends.

These days, Music Zoo on Long Zoo on Long Island is the place with all the cool guitars;

My local Sam Ash (in King of Prussia, PA) always has a nice selection of Martins and Taylors and they have no problem with me just walking in and playing whatever I want.

Dusty Strings in Seattle, WA.

Moore Music in Evansville, Indiana. Brett and Ed and crew have completely remodeled and arranged the store. I have to drive 2 1/2 hours to Nashville to find anything that can compete and nothing really does.

Got my Eastman there! My office is in that area and I'd spend many a lunch hour in the back room especially after they put in the wall of Martins. :guitar:
