I was recently in Scotland after my Baltic country European tour. This is the Elgin Cathedral a historic ruin in Elgin, Moray, north-east Scotland.

Today's sunset was just about gone when I took this one. Canon 5DMKII ISO reading was "hi" which I believe is 25,600

I must not comment! |

Mr. Paul, I watched that storm last night from my deck- the lightning was spectacular even from 50 miles away!
I hope the folks down in the canyons are okay this morning. I watched the radar and a big purple blob was just sitting in one spot down west of Pueblo. It brought back memories of the Big Thompson Canyon flood in the '70s. I was in the area that night, and that storm was ungodly huge, with lightning just like what I saw last night. |
I've never seen a lightning storm like that one, Ken. 3 out of 4 still shots at normal exposure times had lightning. Friends near ground zero said all the lightning was in the clouds with nothing striking the ground.

The interior of Rosslyn Chapel in the village of Roslin, Midlothian, Scotland. This is a relatively rare photo in that they don't normally allow photography inside the chapel:

Only had my phone with me to take photos today. A trip to Grizedale Forest between Windermere and Coniston Water in Cumbria where they have the world's shortest orienteering course.
https://overendsite.files.wordpress....ze=1007%2C1007 ... The trees have to be locked... https://overendsite.files.wordpress....ze=1007%2C1007 ...because when you cut them open, they're full of money... https://overendsite.files.wordpress....ze=1007%2C1007 They say money doesn't grow on trees but if that's true then why do we keep hearing about moneytree problems. |

Took this when out for a walk on Wednesday. Not so easy to hold the camera still for 1/5th of a second to get the water trails, might go back with a tripod sometime.

Amongst other things, photography IS art. Like all art, we know what we like when we see it. I was a photo editor and was probably harder on my own images than anybody elses. Like guitar players, there are those masters then there is everybody else. And everybody can make some darned nice images. |

We're not in competition here, though, so you might want to bear that in mind :) |

Caught a butterfly and a honey bee, making the most of the coneflowers while they last. I took these with a 30mm lens from a foot or so away, so they're pretty heavily cropped.
