NGD - Martin OM28 modern deluxe

Hi folks!

Wanted to share my new acquisition which I am super thrilled about. I picked up a Martin OM-28 Modern Deluxe from the friendly folks at Hearts Home Acoustics today and am super thrilled!

It has an amazing rich tone with sustain and piano-like clarity that makes me all giddy. I was able to get a good deal for my Stonebridge OM33SR towards this guitar. I do love my Stonebridge, but this Martin just spoke to me like nothing else has.

Here's to many years of making music with this baby.

I can see why you’re thrilled with that guitar; I would be the same. Much congratulations on that one!

I am glad you love your guitar. I have been a Taylor fan for most of my guitar playing days. I never seen or played a MARTIN that I could love. I played a new D18 MD at a store in North Dallas. It was sweet. I thought the build and appointments were spot on. I researched them further and eventually pulled the trigger on one. Great guitar.

Congrats on the New Martin
I have my eye on an Older OM33SR. Could you compare the Martin to your Stonebridge. How were they tonally different. Was there a big difference in volume and sensitivity....etc

Thanks

Congrats! Still trying to get my hands on a MD. I've yet to see on in the wild. Beautiful guitar...enjoy!

They are both lovely and I had the shop owner play both back to me as well. The Martin has a bit wider range in terms of bass response and sparkle on the treble. The martin is a little bit overall brighter than the Stonebridge, and I think that's because of how much more midrange the Stonebridge has. Think more piano tones. I described to the owner that the Martin is a shotgun spread of tone from bass to trebles, but not airy.

The Stonebridge has much more midrange than the martin and has a similar sparkle, just a little less volume. I'm guessing this is because of the Adi bracing on the martin. Slightly warmer sounding. The stonebridge has sustain that will knock your socks off and I don't know how Furch does it to be honest. It excels so well in DADGAD. I would definitely say the Stonebridge is the perfect fingerstyle OM guitar.

I was also able to try the Furch Red GC-SR and THAT thing almost had me bankrupting myself :)

Congrats, looks great!

I played one of these at the Martin booth at the Philly Expo back in July...the same venue where I bought my 2005 D-28 Marquis. Really nice OM, very vibrant and full sounding, and the new neck didn’t seem as shallow because of the wider fretboard and 2 1/4” string spacing only available on this model.
