I don't really know how a guitar could get more beautiful that this.

Thanks Tom, I'm very pleased with how this has all come together and particularly how good it sounds!

Knilling Planetary Geared Tuning Pegs

I really love how well this lyre style headstock with the geared tuning pegs goes with the Medieval age color pallet of this guitar.

Very elegant and stylish!

I think those pegs and that peghead shape are perfect together

Thanks John! It was about 9 years ago when I did my first one like this. I liked these pegs because they can go in at an angle and I wanted to show that off. I only wish I felt comfortable to using these with steel strings

Thanks for commenting!

Calton Case for Tree small jumbo

Here are a couple pictures with the almons ready to ship "Tree" small jumbo in it's custom Calton case:

The guitar has a body wedge shape and Calton did a wonderful job accommodating it!

Beautiful. I’m sure that guitar is going to have a very happy owner.

Erithon 05-14-2021 02:20 PM

The matched plate on the back of the headstock looks so good balanced with the full Tree back. And that's a real sexy Calton. All captured by Mark's skilled photography :)

This one should be at the top of your "best" list. Awesome! :)

The back strap is “Tree” wood too. It’s a small touch but I agree it is a good balance. Thanks Erithon

Thanks cigarfan, I guess the goal is to keep making “best” new guitars. I learned the Japanese word kaizen recently which basically means continuous incremental improvement. In a word that is what I try to bring with each new guitar build.

00 Nylon Crossover Ready for Finish

I have the waterfall figured Bubinga/Western Red Cedar 00 nylon crossover pretty much ready for finish:

I tried to capture the blue paua abalone sparkle purfling in this picture:

This picture shows the waterfall figure Bubinga neck and Verawood backstrap:

These are dry woods in these pictures so you know the figure and color will really pop once the finish is on!

Oh wow !

..that blue is sparkling nicely! You captured that well.
I am anxious to see those woods finished .. hard to imagine, I guess they will look spectacular.
And when I look at that headstock I always am reminded of the headstocks of traditional japanese and possibly chinese stringed instruments.

Thanks Lonzo, it does have an Asian string instrument look to it. I usually refer this headstock as my Lyre design which I think it resembles as well.

I'll say it again with sustained enthusiasm - your photography is wonderful, Mark. These new builds are seriously baffling.
