Cordoba Torres Alternative Size-wise

I played this at The NAMM show and fell in love with size and feel.

Does anyone know of an alternative maker of a Torres clone? I'm speaking mostly of the size. Just a super comfy guitar.

Thanks

Hi Scott,
I have a Córdoba Torres copy and I also like the size. The 640 scale and small body make for a comfortable instrument. In my opinion it also sounds fantastic.
Kenny Hill makes shorter scale instruments. I have a 628 model. My understanding is that with this abbreviated scale length the body is also smaller. Though it’s body is still slightly larger than the Córdoba Torres copy, it is a very comfortable guitar for me. I’m not sure how the body size compares to the even shorter scale length (615)Hill production models.

Also, there are lots of “Torres” style guitars being made. Often it only refers to the bracing style and not necessarily the body size. I’ve found many to be standard 650 scale with the occasional smaller nut width(50 vs52 mm).

A good substitute for the Cordoba Torres would be the Cordoba C10 Parlors. Slightly different specs but a very nice and much cheaper option.

I agree. Informative reviews can be found on the web. Smaller body with a 630 scale. Supposedly a great value.

The LaPatrie Motif is a relatively inexpensive, small ( laminate) body with a solid cedar top, 650 scale length instrument that has been well received by many. It’s the same guitar as the Art & Lutherie Ami nylon- which is no longer made but can be found used.
I haven’t had a chance to play one of these but would jump at the chance.

I have a Cordoba Esteso. It is a small bodied classical model, made by a builder in Mexico. It is not a short scale lime the Torres, but it is a small bodied model. I am very pleased with it. I too, really wanted the Torres but the price held me back on getting one.

Ive seen used mint Torres listed for less than a new Esteso. Just a heads up.

I personally prefer a shorter scale and narrower nut but I realize preferences vary. The Córdoba Torres is 640/51.

Thanks all, yes I have also thought of the Esteso

As a follow up:
I played an Art & Lutherie Ami nylon today. It has a small body and standard 650 scale length and 51 nut. It is an inexpensive alternative that, for the money, is fantastic.

Here’s a thread concerning the Motif, same body style with a little more bling than the Ami.
