Dye my GS-Mini

I've got a a Taylor GS-Mini and I'd like to dye my soundboard...kinda bored with the blonde satin finish look. I'm not a crafty wood guy, but if I mask it, lightly sand it, put on a few coats of decent wood stain with alternating sanding efforts with steel wool, and spray with sealer/polyurethane, I should be good to go, right?

That won't work. You'll need to spray a tinted finish to change the color. Unless you were able to remove the finish all the way to the wood (and evenly at that) it won't take wood stain.
