Oh sure. Mock all those poor waiters, repeating their expressions of woe. I don't care what your cat says, you are just bad to the bone.

And for the record, I was not mocking anyone... just tossing you a bone, so you could sit back and laugh your evil cackle. Yep - bad to the bone. :D |
The guitar has arrived in the US, but no other detail. You don’t suppose Evan has paid off the USPS to not update the tracking? Nahhh; he wouldn’t do that. Would he?
Just funning around. I know he would. Busy with scooting and some home projects today... first day since we’ve been home that I didn’t get some guitar time in. Yet. :) |

Might be time for some more of them big fish pictures while you wait...:)

Great pics...yeah, I knew that "mammal" thing was coming. :) I hope your guitar arrives soon. looking forward to the report.

So, I ran the tracking number from AN Post through USPS... the guitar is currently "in transit to the destination" after being played by Postal Workers in San Antonio. With this being a "Monday Holiday weekend," it should likely show up on Tuesday. :)
In and out of Customs on the 5th. I put the red strap (I had taken with us this summer with the X10 in mind) on the X20 today. Joan said, "That looks good on there - I think you need another strap." ;) |
That's actually pretty good time. Looking forward to seeing/hearing the new family member.

Evan is lurking around, checking things out. Seeing who is vulnerable. You're looking pretty solid; cool wife, great cat, nice guitars, good pics. Not much use in picking on you. Looking for new meat. Besides, can't be picking on a cousin--I leave that to nephew K.

A package for me from Ireland has been sitting in our local Post Office since Saturday afternoon. Well, I'm assuming so, based on the time it left our regional hub earlier that day. So, with Sunday and the Monday holiday in there, I expected to see those 3 little words we all want to hear: Out For Delivery.
Nope. Instead, when I checked this morning, I got... "Sorry, we're currently experiencing technical difficulties with our tracking application. We thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the issue. Please check back." Pretty sure the USPS is just messing with me. ;) My darling wife said, "Don't put your life on hold today - you know deliveries run later than usual after a holiday weekend." Pretty sure she's messing with me, too. On the bright side, the tracking has been restored, stating that the package was checked into the local Post Office at 6:20 this morning, and "Expected Delivery on Tuesday, October 9th." No, they don't deliver to our house here on this island, and there are no parcel package lockers big enough for a guitar at our centrally located boxes... so, I'll just wait to see if they leave the box at our Activity Office (sometimes they do that), or take it back to the Post Office where I won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow. Yeah, they're all messing with me. |
How about the cat? Messing with you also?
By the way, the three little words are "experiencing technical difficulties." |

I do know that within a few days you'll have forgotten all about the waiting... |

Now, is there anyone out there who wants to hear: "Experiencing technical difficulties"?? ;) ---- Ray, I'm just having some fun with this. I played my X20 this morning. Considered taking the boat out this morning, but the wind has really piped up. A bit hot and muggy for some scooter time. The Blonde is making some kind of dessert that is smelling really good... if I go out now, I'll miss the hot-out-of-the-oven whatever that is. :) |

Well, it is official: New Guitar Day!
Probably more details about getting it today than necessary, but the link is here... http://captnjim.blogspot.com/2018/10...e-sayings.html The highlights: the lady delivering our mail today wasn't driving the usual USPS van. When she saw me with the pink slip from our mailbox, she said, "I have that box in my car - is that something you want today?" OMG - YES!! Had she not been there when I went to check mail, it would have been tomorrow before I could have picked it up - at the Post Office. She slid the box out of her back seat and the far end of it whacked down onto the pavement... sure hope it is packed good. The box (the red circle is where there is a small hole punched in it)... https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oZLbUseSo...s400/01Box.jpg https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-16DZERxN9...2BoxCorner.jpg I ordered the gig bag instead of the Hiscox case. The Hiscox case is great, but a gig bag fits better with our traveling style (and I am running out of places to stash hard shell cases)... https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l4TwWJQeg...imUnboxing.jpg The good news: the guitar is in perfect condition. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jhRfupAwu...4JimGuitar.jpg I played it acoustically for a while, then compared it to the X20 and the X7... https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zNZ9o3zir...0/06X10X20.jpg https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nUcB8xM3g...00/07X10X7.jpg The X10 is on the left in both of the above images. And then to plug it in... it kicks! Joan and Rufus came in to listen. Rufus is in charge of my security... https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YV5WxM2uN...00/08Rufus.jpg A couple of the Emerald provided glamour shots... https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_2DCz0lgH...00/10Front.jpg https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q12fQj1Co...13X10Horiz.jpg I like the Crystal Ice on the back and sides. I also requested "a bit more shading" on the edges, and they did a great job with that. I'm not a big fan of the D'Addario strings it ships with, and I'll be changing those out for some Elixirs after I spend some more time with this lovely guitar. The 1 11/16ths inch nut and thinner neck (as compared to my X7 or X20) is an absolute delight. The access to the upper frets, even with the shorter scale and 13-frets to the body that I ordered, is as good as any electric I've owned. The action on this is low and sweet. Right out of the box, it plays faster and easier than any of my other acoustics. I have seen some discussion here about the X10 being brighter than the X7 or X20 acoustically - my ears confirm that. It is still a nice acoustic tone, and good balance. We'll see what a change of strings and perhaps gauge does for this. I'll try to post something with some sound comparisons in the next few days. If you need me, I'll be in my guitar room. ;) |
Yay! You got it, and it is lovely. The guitar looks wonderful, and Rufus, as always, brightens up my day. When mine ships in late November (Kevin’s estimate today), I will have to get a shot of my furry feline next to it.
I eagerly await finding out which (X7, X10 or X20) becomes your favorite. :) |

Rufus comes into the guitar room whenever I go in there. He is an appreciative audience. :) Your current X7 will make the wait much easier. |
Really cool Jim, thanks for such a good report and the pictures. Enjoy that beauty !!
