New Samson Meteor Mic

Has anyone had a chance to try one? USB condenser mic which will connect via the camera kit to an iPad or iPod Touch. Considering the history of the Zoom recorders (and esp. the mic capsules), these *look* like they may be a better choice than the iRig Mic.

Got the email announcement re availability yesterday. Looks very cool though it looks to aimed more at podcasters and home studio applications as opposed to music production. Not sure it equates with an iRig.

The iRig Mic, not the iRig.

Wow didn't know about the iRig mic. Reada couple review which were mostly good though they ran into latency issues with iypt using GB for iPad. The Meteor is USB and promises zero latency.

Where is that promise published? Latency is not a mic thing, it's a USB thing.

The claim is, zero latency monitoring, due to the onboard headphone output.

Ed,

Well, duh! :) (not to you, but them)

Rode's podcaster mic was the first mic to incorporate a headphone jack on the mic. The Centrance Mic Port Pro does this and does 24/96.

That's fine if you're not doing overdubs where you need to be in sync with tracks you have already laid down. If you are overdubbing, USB latency issues can still be problematic depending on the specific computer you're using.

It is mentioned in the Samson product video for the Meteor mic. You can see it here.
