Josie with cut away
Here are some progress pictures of the other BRW Josie SJ guitar. I've started closing up the box:

Thanks for viewing! Mark |
These two builds are captivating. Awesome stuff Mark!

That is one beautiful set of BRW, the way the grain runs between the back and sides, wow. This rivals the grain of the Koa you ended 2014 on in terms of "outstandingness"!!!!

I glued on the top last night and will clean that up today. We'll get a good look with the body closed up today. Thanks again, Mark |

Hey, Mark, I have to say I'm glad it's you who has that extraordinarily sumptuous Brazilian Rosewood to work with. In the hands of a lesser luthier, it just wouldn't be fair... Both of these guitars featured here are out of this world. The level of craft and aesthetic design you're bringing to these builds is truly inspiring. And you do proper justice to the materials you are using. Awesome work!
|
Oh Man. Does that really need binding? I would have a tough time putting anything along those edges!
|
That is just completely awesome the way the grain lines up so perfectly on the cutout. I would think just making the cuts the width of the blade would take out just enough wood that there would be a least a little step in the pattern, but that is perfect. Great job!

Taking pretty pictures is one thing but, we all know it really comes down to sound and playability. I am working at improving my sound recording capabilities to help make the sound of my guitars more accessible.. I'll make every effort to finish all of my builds with soundclips. Not much I can do online to show playability, although I should probably do better speaking to the things I do in design and construction for comfort of play. Mark |

That is all fine and good and God Bless everyone for their opinions and their right to have one. THEN I see a piece of BRW like the back and sides on this cutaway and I wonder how could anyone that is in their right mind say no to something that looks like this and will sound like this. Mark, this guitar is just outstanding beautiful. I see a Peacock tail opening from the base of the guitar and spreading out over the back! Tom |
