Pole Piece Alignment

Hi everyone,

Lately, I've been spending some time researching a variety of acoustic pickups. I have my eyes set on the M1 but I have one concern. I discovered that the pole pieces will not align perfectly with the strings on my Yamaha. So much so that the high E string will be pretty much in between the pole pieces for B and E strings. Will this be much of a problem?

Thanks. :)

not sure if you can do this with the M1, but usually for soundhole mags, you can install it tilted to match the pole pieces to the strings to your liking.

Also be informed - if you go with the M1 Active, it is very hot. it picks up all surface noise if installed right out of the box. It is a great pickup, but for my needs I had to add a dense foam rubber padding to the parts that clamp on to the soundboard. Then, I play through an amp that has an enhance feature wich actually warms things up and takes the edge off. But if you play it straight through any amp or PA with nothing to soften it, it will be harsh and noisy. Have not used the M1 Passive.

The pole pieces on my M1 do not align with my Gad30, but does not seem to affect the sound quality.
