It sure is gorgeous, Ryan. What's it coming into the shop for...besides making you and Steve drool over her backside?

Joel, pretty much a full 250,000 mile overhaul. Neck reset, refret, New nut, saddle. The whole she-bang. A friend of ours recently acquired it and wants it in close to tip-top shape. Probably to eventually find its way into a Guild collector’s hands.

That Brazilian Guild is a first for me ... what a cool guitar!

.....and then, after that brief moment of wonder and excitement.....the reality of the “finishing” part of the process sets in.....and I cry!!! Ha ha, not really.....well, maybe a little bit. This reality is why I was interested in talking to you, at Toms, about the logistics of having someone else do the finishing. It’s not that I don’t enjoy doing it myself.....but that I’d rather be using the time to build the next one. This is a really cool looking guitar, guys.....and I’m looking forward to seeing her all shiny and strung up. Joel |
Joel, I understand. You feel like you have built something at this stage, but...then it has to be made it to something complete. Tony does save us many heartaches while we continue building. If his finish wasn’t so darn perfect maybe it would be a harder choice, but it is - and it’s an easy one to make. :)

Visiting the shop
I hope it's ok to post this here, guys - seemed like a good place to do so. ;)
A friend and I had the opportunity this week to drive over to Nacogdoches and visit with Steve and Ryan and they are very gracious hosts! Steve and I both have Gallagher guitars from the same era, '75 for mine and '76 for his, so I took mine for a comparison. Plus, we were able to share stories about our first visits to Gallagher Guitars. Steve playing my Gallagher - https://i.imgur.com/S0T95JK.jpg And he also played my first build (without laughing, I might add :D)- https://i.imgur.com/xZaM31l.jpg And Barry playing a Size 1 Kinnaird with Ryan looking on - https://i.imgur.com/IexbqBJ.jpg Many thanks to Steve and Ryan for the opportunity to visit a really nice shop and the wonderful East Texas Piney Woods area - it was fun! Now that you know how to find us, don't be a stranger. Only next time, bring your Laguna band saw with you? :D Steve |
David, thanks for stopping by! It was a blast hanging out with you and Barry.
For everyone else, enjoy this picture of a random hole in a perfectly good set of Celebes Ebony sides. https://i.postimg.cc/QxHvsnXJ/EB7667...50-EBAC4-D.jpg |

Though, quadruple the size as we did, we sometimes wish for even more space. Steve |
