Need a "tall" footstool.

I have decided that I need a foot stool that is at least
9.5 inches in height (24.5 cm) >>at the heel<<. I emphasis
"at the heel" because since most footstools have a tilted
surface, many manufacturers when listing a stool height
just estimate the height from the center of the tilted
surface. On-line, a description will "claim" that this
particular footstool can reach a height of ten inches,
but when I order the footstool and get it home, the
heel of my foot is no where near ten inches off the
ground.

I would prefer a footstool with a flat surface, but it
looks like pretty much every footstool I find on-line
has a tilted surface.

Can someone on this forum direct me to a footstool that
will meet my needs, where the lowest point of the surface
is at least 9.5 inches (24.5 cm) off the ground?

Thank you for your help.

There are several places to purchase custom footstools built to your specs. Here is just one:

Those won't suit my needs as I still need a
footstool that is collapsible so that I can
put it in a bag and take it to performances.

Thank you for the link, though.

Why not use a strap, and forget the foot stool? Put a strap button at bottom of the lower bout, and another at the heel of the neck, pick up an inexpensive ukulele strap, and you are good to go.

One less thing to carry with you.

Switching to a strap doesn't happen over night. A very well performing guitarist in my area confided in me that he has started using a strap too. Sacrileges! BUt actually I am considering it myself. BUt it takes time and if one is already a performing guitars I can imagine that they would be reluctant to change.

But like a lot of us who can't take the foot stool anymore a strap is a surprisingly good alternative. I've tried the leg rests but like the strap better.

You might try a meditation supply place as there are low stools that are designed for people to sit with their legs folded underneath the stool. They are usually higher than guitar footstools. I believe they have collapsible ones. I don't know if they would fit your needs but you might want to check them out.

to Jayne's suggestion

Is an 11" height too high? Can it be a color other than black?

Yes- if you can find a way to comfortably raise the guitar while keeping the
upper legs more-or-less parallel to the ground, your body will be happier in
the long run. Lots of things to try other than a footstool (too many).
