Remove Fishman "Barn Door" from a WS1000-N2
There appear to be some rubber or plastic covers that (I assume) cover the screws that hold it in place. I cannot seem to remove those covers to get at the screws. Any suggestion. I am at my wits end.

Assuming it's the same as my RainSong Jumbo, (Fishman Prefix +T) just get the tip of a razor blade between the cap and the frame. It does pop out, and are not secured if I recall, so just don't lose them!

I highly recommend you email Dave at RainSong (he will be the one who answers if you email them) and ask for their advice. He is always extremely helpful. RainSong may be a fairly small factory, but their customer service (Dave) is top-notch.

I do not like the sound. I installed a LR Baggs M80 and removed the under-saddle and endpin. I want to dress up the hole where the barn door resides and make it a sound port.

I removed the Fishman pick-up on my Rainsong and put in a Seymour Duncan mag mic. Mine just had four philips screws, so it was easy. I just left the hole. Really works as a sound port. The Fishman had a very harsh unpleasant sound that I couldn't make right no matter what I did with tone controls. I can (barely) reach in through the hole to change the battery on the mag-mic.

The plastic/rubber covers were hardened from the many years I have had the guitar and would not budge. I used an Exacto knife and made two cuts across them.....I was then able to pry the covers off.
The rest is easy, 4 screws and off it came. I will dress the remaining void and use it as a sound port (it does indeed work). |
