2009 William Kelday 000 12 Fret **TRADE PENDING**

Well AGF this one I'm not quite sure I can pull the trigger selling. There are no words to describe how beautiful this guitar is in person. Understated elegance. Amazing fingerstyle guitar from one of the best custom builders today. Excels in DADGAD tuning. The mahogany came from an old pub being demo'd in the UK and the cedar from an old foot bridge in the Northwestern US. Honestly, I've never seen mahogany quite like this. One of the loveliest tones you will ever hear. Tony McManus played a Kelday 000 12 fret for quite some time. Current build price for this guitar is just over $6,000 USD.
Worried about the wider nut? Don't be. The slim neck profile on this makes it comfortable. I typically play 1-3/4" nut widths and can play this one with no issues. Condition: Outside of a faint scratch on the back (pictured) this one is nearly mint. NOTE: The light/dark areas on the guitar are the reflection from a light hardwood floor and an area rug. I can assure you the top and back are not two-tone. :D Specs: Cedar top Old Mahogany back and sides Brazilian Rosewood bridge Rope purfling Diamond fretboard inlay Upper Bout ~ 11" Waist ~ 9" Lower Bout ~ 15" Body Length ~ 20" Scale Length 25.4" Lower Bout Depth ~ 4" Width at Nut 1-13/16" Bridge String Spacing just shy of 2-3/8" HISCOX case Asking price is a firm $3,000 (PP F&F) plus actual shipping cost CONUS Trade with significant cash addition or straight up trade. Value $3,500. Actual guitar being played by previous owner...... https://youtu.be/hccAOWSyZZk This guitar featured on the William Kelday website http://www.keldayguitars.com/keldayg...000/000-1.html |
Truly amazing guitar hear folks.

Really don’t mind keeping this! I’m telling you, won’t disappoint.
|
Wow that’s a beauty!
|
Thanks Jeff, this one is special. I’m never going to be a fingerstyle player who can bring the best out of this instrument. Although this has surprising power when strumming.
|
Back on Up. No Kelday love here?? Man, tough crowd. LOL
Seriously folks, this guitar is the cat's meow if you are a finger stylist. But like I said, it can hold its own with a pick too. |
Man, looks like a really good one.
GLWS, hoping it’s around long enough for me to gather the funds together and make it mine! |
I think it looks like a beauty as well. Really glad it isn't within driving distance or I would have to give it a try. Putting it back to the top so someone in the mid Atlantic will see it and be unable to resist.

Beautiful guitar. Do you have any finger picked sound clips?
|
I found a clip of the tune he banks and brakes on YouTube that May be being played on this guitar by a previous owner. Sounds great and the tune is played beautifully. Have a look.

I coveted this guitar when it was listed previously and came close to buying back then....I have played a couple Keldays and they are wonderful builds and this one appears to be as well - that’s a great price on this guitar - wish I had the dough - no affiliation with seller - just a thumbs up on price and luthier - this one looks like a winner....BLWS...

I own a 2007 William Kelday 000 12 fret. These are made for fingerstyle, and with open/altered tuning in mind. They have that "chimey" tone that rings clear and true for open/alternate tunings as well as standard tuning, yet while sounding full and resonant.
The issue with selling a Kelday in the US is that it is a relatively unknown brand. In Europe these are highly thought of, but unknown in the US. Here is a link to back when Dream Guitars was selling mine: https://www.dreamguitars.com/shop/ke...ble-sides.html One interesting aspect of these guitars is that each one is different, hand built by one person, William Kelday, and they all have that characteristic that I mentioned above. You can really hear it in the clip an earlier poster put up in this thread. If Kelday was known in the US, and the quality of these guitars recognized for what they are, it would sell for quite a bit more, as is typical for one person shop, hand made boutique guitars. Kelday only makes a few guitars each year, since his is not a production line type of business. Tony |
You all are making me feel like I should raise the price! :D
Really appreciate the comments and for Jeff finding that YouTube clip. |
Have some serious interest but still available at the moment! Don’t miss your chance. These don’t come up often.
