String'em Up!
 

Got the Woodsman all strung up. Nothing like a new set of strings. Wound'em up with my power winder and tuned her up nice with my analog tuner!

Old school all the way! I still use my pitch-pipe tuner, but only to get me in the neighborhood. My ear can't match such dissimilar timbres. Just one more way I'm helplessly dependent on electronics.

Love the pictures and love this guitar. Can’t wait to hear it and watch it being played on video.

I'll confess that I am not actually using old Black Diamond strings on this guitars. Let's just say here and there I have taken some liberties as I saw fit. Those old strings were pretty bad but, that old box set sure looks good there!

Thanks Ovation1! It is starting off sounding great. At this point I have a dummy Maple saddle on it while the guitar sorts out being a guitar. I expect I'll have a real saddle on there next week and I will definitely get a some video up on it.

Thanks oliverkoller! If you just read it all I just don't have much to add at this point. I've still have a coffin case to make because, well, that's just what this guitar should have!

Thanks John! I have a new website in the works and since this is a new model I've been holding off working on the case so I could finish this guitar and start getting pictures for the site.
I have been getting all the required hardware for a case which, having never thought about it, I was a bit surprised on how much there is! Plus, being new to case making I had to figure out what everything is even called! It's already an adventure! So I'm just going to keep this build thread rolling into making the case. Hopefully, it may be a little help to other luthiers who may wish to give it a go.

Gorgeous Mark. How’s it sound? Are you happy?

Hi Paul, thanks! During the initial break-in I use a dummy wood saddle which I then use as a reference for final set up after a week or two. I say a week or two because I take daily string height measurements and wait for final set up until a couple days after that height is stableized. No sense intonating a guitar until it knows it’s a guitar! However good a guitar sounds initially I know it will be significantly improved in the final set up with a properly cut bone saddle. That was the long answer. Short answer is, it sounds great! I am happy 😃
