Hi, Joe,

Looking forward to hearing about your visit next month. Do you have a specific date set to visit?

I never thought I'd be saying this (though I should have known better!), but I'm really considering commissioning another Olson--spruce over rosewood for sure (probably no cutaway)...but it likely won't be soon due to the recent Charis and Contreras (classical) financial "dents" :) (but no regrets--they are superb guitars and keepers for sure!). Hope he's still building when/if the time comes.

Hi Jon,

That Contreras of yours looks really sweet.

A spruce top Olson sounds very nice -- and I'm torn myself between that option and having the traditional cedar/rosewood combo.

As for the exact date of my trip, you'll know when I come back! ;)

Thanks for the compliment on the Contreras. It definitely sounds as good as it looks!

On spruce vs. cedar...if you go with spruce, at least you know you've already got a cedar SJ...or you could commission both...then if you don't like the spruce, send it my way :ha:

Well, no matter what the mystery date is, I look forward to hearing how it goes!

Tickets have been booked.

I will be playing an Olson for Christmas.

Woo-hoo! Thanks for the update, Joe. Looking forward to some of your amazing recordings with the Olson. Also looking forward to hearing about what comes of your visit with Jim.

So, Joe, are those tickets to Phoenix?

cigarfan 12-17-2012 07:12 PM

Merry Christmas Joe ! :D:D

JoeCharter 12-17-2012 07:24 PM

Thanks, guys!

Jim actually returns to Circle Pines for the holidays so I'll get a chance to visit his shop.

I'll update this thread in just a few days.

Merry Christmas!!!

I love that city. I've stayed there 3 times before. So, great, you also take professional-quality photos in addition to nailing it on fingerstyle guitar. Joe, you really make it hard for one to catch up with you :)

Looking forward to hearing more about your visit!

Love your photography Mau. I frequent your new website as you know and the pics are really nice buddy. I do hope we hook up because I can only imagine your minds' vision of the photos you'd take around these parts; from the little river cafes of San Marco, to the many beaches and such...not to mention the jam we'd enjoy. ;)

Hi Mau,

I am just now catching up with you on this thread! The photos of your guitar are absolutely stunning. The case, too! And now you are in Minneapolis to go pick up your guitar from Jim Olson's shop... How cool is that?!

Your Olson is so fancy, it makes mine look like a poor cousin. Holy Smokes! What a stunner!

I can't wait to hear some of your playing on this guitar, Mau! I hope your trip goes well and that you have a very, Merry Christmas! :)

Mau, great photos and I have sure enjoyed all your posts! I will happen to be in Ottawa for Christmas...if we get out towards your neck of Quebec (wherever that may be...) I may just have to give you a call.

Congratulations on the new guitar.

Matt

Hi Jon,

Thanks so much for your post. I am not serious about photography but I really enjoy it.

Minneapolis seems like a fine northern city. Feels like Canada... ;)
