20 STRING LUTE TUNING MACHINES from ROBSON TUNER
Almost completed set of tuning machines for a twenty string lute, as part of our custom service. We have made these machines for a lute built by David Van Edwards, widely acknowledged as one of the world's foremost experts on the lute and lute making. It has certainly been an interesting project and I thought the Forum members may like to take a look, I will post more pics when they are fitted to the lute.
I am happy to answer any questions. Keith Robsonhttp://robsontuners.com/lute/Lute-machines1.jpg |
That's some beautiful work! I'm looking forward to pics of the finished instrument -

That's gorgeous.
When I replaced the original Ping tuners on my Seagull 12 string with Gotoh minis, I put alternating black and white tuner buttons on them, with the octave strings getting the white buttons. It just makes it faster and easier to grab the right tuner when needing to retune. So I like your contrasting buttons. Wade Hampton Miller |
How much do they weight? The lute balance could be a problem.

That's some beautiful machine work! How well does the black coating on the screws hold up over time?
