Breedlove Depth Question

So I was looking at the breedlove site and came across the dimensions of their guitars (link). It shows that their largest guitar depth (dread) is only 4", and the majority of their models (including GC and GA) are only 3.75". A Taylor GC (4 3/8" depth) has a deeper depth than the depth of a breedlove dreadnaught. Are the dimensions correct, it just seems odd to me that the guitars are so slim. Anyone have any insight or thoughts?

Oregon Dred is 4 inches...

I have a Breedlove Oregon Dreadnought (the current 2014 model). It is 4 inches deep. For me, the slightly shallower depth makes it more comfortable to play. I have an old beater Dreadnought guitar that is 4.75 in deep and it is harder to play sitting down.

When I was shopping, I compared it with last years Oregon Dread (D/SMYe) as both were in the same shop. I didn't notice a big difference in volume. The older model was designed more like the Breedlove Revival guitars - pin bridge, standard dread dimensions (4.75in deep).

The 2014 Oregon Dread had more of a "Taylor" feel to it, but with base more like a Taylor GS guitar. The D/SMYe had more of a Martin feel to it. I went for the 2014 Dread because that sound appealed to me more for strumming and finger picking.

I have an older Martin 000-16 that covers the Martin part of the spectrum...

My Concert size C20/SR is 3.75" deep at the neckblock, and 4.625 at the heelblock. Well over 4" deep but with a significant taper.

Ahh so it tapers as it gets to the upper bout. Just curious, how exactly does it feel to have the width tapered like that? does your arm rest nicely on it?

I have three Breedlove Acoustics and love all of them. The two with taper are easy to play and easy to hold. Its also fun to show people who don't know that guitars have tapers.

Feels like a deep bodied OM.
