Does anyone else see chords as colors?
When I think of certain chords, I associate them with colors. D Major chord is Green, A Major chord is blue, etc... not sure where these colors are coming from. Do any of you associate chords with colors?

Yes, A is red, E is blue, D is white, F is brown, G is gold, B is blue-green. I feel silly writing this...

You'll want to look up synaesthesia.
It's a real thing. |

There was a relatively recent (2017) thread concerning synesthesia.
Here’s a link: https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=553308 Apparently many people do see colors, sense smells, or have “special synesthesia” when it comes to music. |
Wow! I thought it was just me! I’ve tried to explain this to family members, but they just look at me like like I have a 3rd eye.
I noticed it a long time ago, don’t remember how long. Weird, isn’t it? Only I see/feel different colors than you guys. I suppose it’s different for each person? So glad you posted this - I thought I was a freak. |

This is wild! I've never associated chords with colors and seems so strange :)

I read about synaesthesia years ago and thought it would be a really nice "condition" to have. Check out Oliver Sachs' books if you're interested in it.
|
I have a son with this condition, every note's a different color or shade.
Coincidentally, he's an amazing, multi talented musician. |
Sound Synesthesia is when a piece of music evokes the perception of shapes, colors, and movements. It is also called Chromosthesia.
Also check out https://www.oliversacks.com/books-by.../musicophilia/ My favorite chapter is: "Papa Blows His Nose In G" |

This is fascinating to me...and I have nothing of this sort!
So if you see a C chord as green for example, do you also see the root C as the same color of green? Do you see each individual note as a color, or just chords? Is a C# a slightly different shade of green or is it a completely different color. Fascinating. |

Your response made me smile! |
Do individual notes have any sort of color? What about more complex chords? Do the colors “blend” together?
