Tuning Machines with 2-Hole Rollers?
 

Does anyone know if any company makes classical guitar tuning machines ines with 2-hole rollers? The photo below shows a hand-modified set. The purpose is to make the top end stringing much easier.

I like the idea. Securing strings is not hard, whether steel or nylon. I would expect frets.com to have good instructions.

Grover Sta-Tite H98 is a slot-head tuner with 2 holes in the string post but I think you might find them too far apart.

Those are interesting. I just wonder why classical guitars haven't been updated a bit. New ideas like bridge beads and 12-hole bridges have been adopted and I wish they'd do the same at the head. Changing strings on a steel string is simple, but I dread having to change my nylons.

One way Ive found to mimic this is to pass the string back through the barrel hole after bringing it around, but that can't be done, at least not easily, on the bass strings.

I don't see how the second hole would help on the Grovers shown. The second hole would be buried in the center section of a slot head.

What kind of classical guitar is that? Those are steel string slot head tuners, not classical guitar tuners.

The photo is from a Premier Guitar article called "Mod Garage: Conquering Classical Guitar String-Changing Terror", in which the author discusses modifying the barrel to have two holes. I don't know if the pictured tuners are stock or custom-drilled, but I have found tuners similar to those in the photo on Amazon. They purport to be for classical guitars but in some ways, it's only the button design that suggests that. I would imagine one would have to get a replacement plastic barrel to slide over the metal barrel to make these compatible with a standard classical head.
