Made this outdoor bench (She Shed photos added)

Found this old tailgate at a flea market for $20 and knew it had to come home with me. Was missing the release latch and I filled in the hole and leveled it before painting it. Here is the finished product. Weighs a ton and would withstand a category 5 hurricane. Goes well adjacent to my wife's "she shed".

Very, very cool ... but I gotta ask ... did you marry a Munchkin?

The Growler 01-19-2020 09:41 PM

Cool idea. I like it.

Brucebubs - it's not the house, it's a "she-shed", which is a recent name for a studio or potting room (detached from the main house) that is primarily a woman's domain. A counter point to the "man cave". ;)

Very, very nice. Love it.

Nice "she shed", nice bench. You did a great job! Did you build the beautiful little house? What's it used for?

Lkristians 01-19-2020 10:27 PM

Very cool!

I got that and I was just trying to be humorous.:)
The workmanship of the 'she-shed' and the bench are both outstanding.
Beautifully done.

"In this episode, MacGyver must construct a bench from a discarded tailgate in order to thwart a renegade scientist's plot for world domination . . . "

Very cool bench. I would be most happy to sit and ponder things on it.

You can't beat re-cycling in this way - great bench.

Nice bench.

Does that "she shed" double as a dog house? :D

Thanks for the kind words. I'd like to say I built the "she shed" from scratch, but I simply bought one of those off the lot storage buildings and then snazzed it up for my wife, including, but not limited to: insulation, vinyl plank flooring, shiplap walls, ceilings, a ductless all year mini split heat pump, front deck, etc. She absolutely loves it, using it primarily for crafting, but also working remotely from her she shed 2 days per week.
