Help Me With PA Purchase
I want to downsize my PA system.
Selling my Crate 8 channel 350 watt 2 speaker box and stands system. I want to replace it with a tower type system. Looking on line I see several tower systems for under $1,000.00 that look like decent systems. What are your thoughts on any of the brands like Bose, JBL, Gemini, Yamaha, or others? What have you experienced with any of them good or bad? I will be using it for Assisted Living Homes, Community Civic Centers, and other rooms that may hold up to 100/150 people. Will be adding a small mixer to be able to have 4 usable channels Two for plug in guitar and two for vocal mics. I am leaning toward the Gemini PA 300BT right now. It is $599.00 pule a 25% off sale at Guitar Center. Thanks for your help, Dale. |
Wait for the Harbinger Mls900 to go back on sale for $299.
The LD Systems Maui 5 is well thought of here as well. I haven't heard good stuff about the Gemini's. The Yamaha Stagepas 1k looks good and another agf'er bought one and is impressed. |
Disclaimer: I have not heard the Gemini system (saw one at GC last weekend), but the SDOTD Gemini powered speaker I have has a very harsh sound when turned up. I use it as a monitor(it's also twice as heavy as the Alto speakers I use for mains).
A friend has two Harbinger systems, he uses both together, I have only heard it in a small room with 20 people. It was adequate, at best. I don't think the sound spread as uniformly or as smoothly as any Bose system I've heard. |
