Loki's Lament

A quick iPhone video of my Monteleone LaCorsa using my Shure MV88. Open G, capo 3.

Enjoy!

Beautiful song, beautiful guitar, beautifully played.

Were you using the cloth on the top of the guitar to cover the sound port for recording?

Hi Bob,
Thank you for giving it a listen!

I'm using the schmatah to cover the sound port because it's just too loud sometimes. More im-port-antly (heh, heh) to protect the finish from my arm.

I need to get out my thread & thimble........and yes: I do have an arm sock, but I can sweat too much from it covering my arm!

The real recording of Loki's Lament on The Rhytalin Kid (done with a pair of AKG-414's) really let the Monteleone shine.

This recording is rather dry, but I think the song stands on its own beauty.

I get lucky sometimes.

Best,
Howard

Howard, we should all be so lucky. :)
Thanks for sharing that very pretty tune.

Hi Andre,
The more I throw at the wall, the less ends up on the floor:-)

Between being very picky, and very sure I might be onto something, the luckier I get:-)

Howard

Really nice, Howard. Love your distinctive style! As with Taylor and Kottke, I'd recognize it immediately any time any place. Lovely tune!

Hi Fred,
I'm very honored to be mentioned in the same sentence with James & Leo!

Thank you.

Hi Remy,
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

By the way, here's the original, which I recorded a week after receiving the Monteleone LaCorsa guitar from John. Same song, same writer, but better mics, no doubt:-)

Lovely. Really enjoyed this Howard. I have a guitar with a sound port and I grew tired of the sound too. Got the builders to make a bung, for the want of a better word, that matches perfectly :)

Hi Phil,
Glad you enjoyed it!

Funny that you're referring to the plug as a bung!!

There are times when I love having it open, especially if I want to play very softly.

That I end up covering it when I protect the finish is just fine, and I'm glad it's there to cover, and not to pine about 'what if I wanted one' after the fact.

Regards,
Howard
