Recording King replacement parts?
 

The saddle has broken on my Recording King RO-10.
Where can I purchase a new one?
Thinking of a bone saddle from Bob Colosi but he needs an original one for a pattern.

just get a blank, and a piece of sandpaper, and go at it.

If you're unable to replicated it yourself, Bob can do a great job for you.

Why not send him the broken one? He only needs dimensions.

Don't know. Last string change it just fell out in 2 pieces.
Broke where the compensation is.

My plate is so full lately. Just want to pick it up and play when I have the chance.

I know. Right now it is my fave player and just didn't want the down time.

Surprises me that extensive google search yielded no hits for replacement drop in OEM saddle.

Recording King won't sell you one?

LMII or StewMac doesn't sell one that fits?

There's no such thing as a perfect fit drop-in saddle. They have to be either made or modified to fit. That's just the way it works. Not an exact replacement part.

RK have a 16” fretboard radius. Just get a saddle that has the 16” radius and is at least as thick/tall/long.

MacNichol has some nice bone saddles I’ve used. Off the top of my head, Martin and Yamaha have a 16” saddle so if he has saddles for those which are at least your dimensions

What about the compensation?
Are they all the same?

Yes they all use the same design, so it should be good.

However my personal beef with this is that these intonation points are only correct for a certain set up. Changing saddle height, or humidity changes the scale length (very minor, maybe less than a mm) and does require a different intonation spot.
Fortunately these are very minor differences which, if it didn’t affect your prior experience playing, should not affect your future playing with this new saddle.

I’m being very picky because I’m cursed/blessed with being able to hear minute changes in pitch. I like to set my own intonation points when I make my saddle, but I realize this isn’t the case with you so don’t worry about it!
