Beautiful cutaway, as always.

Perfect wood has the danger of lacking character, though it undoubtedly can make up for that in its enhanced potential for performance. This back has a lot of character, but as I see it it is the lower bout that matters most, and the majority of this character is above the waist. Keep the rude jokes to a minimum, please. ;)

UMGF/AGF Dread pictures
 

A couple of months ago I made these 2 style 28 semi-Martins and I have been asked for pictures several times. I was slow to get this done, but I finally did rise to it. MInd you, I am not totally happy with the result, but I have made pages for each guitar on my site and maybe I'll get around to better images before they are shipped to new owners.

These guitars are surprisingly different from each other, and I'd be hard pressed to say which you'd like. The UMGF is far more powerful, almost certainly the strongest Dread I've made, and it is as balanced as a dread this strong can be, with VERY FAT trebles as well as the strong low end expected. The AGF is far more articulate however, and it the one I find myself reaching for. But let's face it, I am an OM kinda guy, and a variety of possibly expressions is my thing. And while the AGF will certainly stomp most any OM into the ground, if I were going to a shoot out, I'd be a fool not to grab the other one.

Stronger than that Brazilian Schoenberg number that blew my socks off a year or two ago at MFG?

Never had the two in the same room, but I'd bet on the new one, it is quite remarkable. The older one might be more tonally versatile, but the new one has a 1/3/4 nut which is a deal maker for me over the old one's 1 11/16 nut. I think the AGF dread would be more comparable to the Schoenberg dread overall, though again, the AGF has a 1 3/4 nut.

Check out that 1/4rd Jatoba graft!!! All the binding and the backstrip are similar.

SBAIC/'17 giveaway Guitar
 

I spent some time today making pictures of the SBAIC giveaway guitar. For me, giving a guitar away no strings attached is a big deal, I've never done anything like this before. I figure about 20% of a typical festivals attendees actually stop in at my table, and I want to raise my odds. Players really cannot know what is different about my work if they don't pick it up.

I am going to make a sepearate thread here featuring the SBAIC guitar giveaway, but meanwhile here are a couple of the artier pictures included on the page I made today which is located here.

This head design is similar to previous designs, but new for this guitar. It is synthesized from the symmetrical SBAIC design nearby, which was first used on the guitar before it which I made for my daughter. My goal is to incrementally improve my design work until it is actually perfect. . . (laugh now). Thank you, I mean to say.
