You guys made the right decision with the binding, some of the best I've seen on recent guitars, up there with your Klepper and Jimmy Caldwell's OM-30, which conveniently for you is also for sale at Schoenbergs. :)
I recently took possession of my Circa OM I ordered and I'm BLOWN away how darn amazing she turned out...! I'm planning on posting a review soon;)
Very nice build! Love the story about the shipwreck spruce, what a crazy coincidence! A guitar builder stumbles upon a shipwreck carrying red spruce billets from C.F. Martin?!?! Just insane!
Awesome looking workmanship! |

Yup! That was her... John finished up right before the show and I was happy to have him show her off to the Woodstock crowd! Glad some peeps got to check her out;)
There's no update on the build, although I think it's progressing.
I did get a chance to play a Circa 000-12 with an Italian spruce top and beeswing mahogany back and sides. It had wonderful projection, clarity, and note separation. Lots of focus and power and super lightweight. While I was playing it, another fellow commented it was the best guitar he played in the shop. When you're in a shop like Schoenberg, that's saying a lot. I thought it was buy-able and wish I had the funds. http://jus-tone.com/misc/circa/Circa_Hog_000-1.jpg http://jus-tone.com/misc/circa/Circa_Hog_000-2.jpg http://jus-tone.com/misc/circa/Circa_Hog_000-3.jpg http://jus-tone.com/misc/circa/Circa_Hog_000-4.jpg |
This is shockingly close to what I had in mind.
It looks like it's shaping up to be a very special looking guitar!

WHAT A TOP..... Talk about mesmerizing on the lap!!! |
Well, I've been wondering about this guitar, Justin. Any news to share?
It's been a while, mostly because of delays on my end. John was kind enough to snap a few photos of the progress on the neck. This neck will have non-adjustable reinforcement.

Nice! Let's see more of where that came from.
Glad to see this one is moving again. Thanks for the update.
This one is nearly ready for finish. I love the fretboard inlay, the torch, and the look of the purflings and backstrip.

Talk about coming together..! It will be all you hope it to be, and a bit more...;)

It is going to be a stunner...

Hey Justin,
What a beauty you have coming.... May you have many, many hours of playing bliss! John's guitars are second to none.. I know, because I have a 00-12, Beeswing Mahogany/European Spruce. Impeccably made, great projection, incredible string separation and just the right amount of overtone. Resonance for days. John's guitar will make you a better player, because it's clarity will demand it. Congrats! |
This is turning out excellent! But what's up with the nude Barbie dolls on the pipe?!
Oh, John attaches those to firecrackers and blows them up as a hobby.
Apprentices, of course..:)

It's gonna be one of your favorites.... CIRCA does it as good as they come!
Man oh man that purfling! I LOVE it! :) I still have a bit of a wait for mine and I can't wait. This looks like a stunner! Congrats to you!
I so look forward to hearing all about it. It is going to be awesome.
Juston that looks beautiful... The purfling almost shimmers like the abalone...
This is super impressive and will go as a matching pair to your Klepper/Schoenberg soooo well because of the overall aesthetic and specifically the binding. :) Super happy for you!
