Found a set
Thomastik CF128 Flatwound Classical Guitar Strings have a Wound G (like an Acoustic Guitar String set) & it's made essentially like the Bass Strings in a Classical Guitar String set (Nylon wound in Metal). The Wound G actually acts like a "Transitional String" & I think a Wound G string would sound better if you use a Pick to strum on the strings.

I have been using Savarez 520F for many moons now.

As for wound G strings, GHS Doyle Dykes are a good option: https://www.stringsbymail.com/ghs-dd...-set-2305.html |
Figured it out
I think if all the wound strings were flatwound & so was the wound g, it would help. The wound g acts as a transitional string.

Figured it out
The Design of the Wound G has improved over the years so it's alot stronger than it used to be years ago.

I like these on my Taylor crossover, something between nylon and steel in feel and sound. They seem to last pretty good and hold tune as well. Good thing, they are a tad pricey !

A Classical Guitar String set w/ a Wound G, well for it to sound good, the Braces would have to be surgically altered.

Try normal tension - Savarez Alliance Cantiga 510AR (carbon trebles). I don't care for nylon G strings, I prefer carbon. The nylon G strings sound "tubby" to me. If you don't want to go with full carbon trebles then order a set of strings plus order a Savarez Alliance single G string (carbon) to replace the nylon G string in your set of choice.
You might want to try a set with polished basses as they are a little quieter in regard to squeaking. |
