Default Your thoughts on the New Guild line up?

I anticipate the new Guild Contemporary CV-1C to be a hot seller. Love the florentine and simplicity of the design. Clear or no pickguard would be real nice on this piece.

Has anyone tried one? Anyone have DTAR pickup experience? Do you know an online vendor that has inventory?

I didn't try the CV-1C, but had the chance to play some new-Tacoma made Guilds D and Jumbos ... D-40 Richie Heavens, D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee, D-50, D-55 and F-50 .... they are all incredible value.

Very lightly built, great resonance, first class workmanship, classy appointments ....... I continue to read entusiastic comments about the new-Guilds on either the USA Contemporary Series made in Tacoma and the import line (GAD) as well ..

Check out the Guild forum for some great reviews and a wealth of knowledge. http://www.letstalkguild.com

I had a chance to play several new Guilds at NAMM and they were wonderful instruments. I think Fender is serious about re-establishing Guild as a premier acoustic brand.

Default Guild CV-1

I own a non-cutaway. It is a FINE guitar, especially for fingerstyle. Mine is sunburst. I also have a D40 Bluegrass with the D-Tar system. This is a great addition also. I ALSO have a new D55. After my personal set-up, this guitar just blows me away everytime I play it. Try this link for a bit more info on the CV-1 andthe D-Tar.

I've got a Tacoma built Guild D40 with the Dtar pickup. The guitar and the pickup are both super. I've also got a Dtar pickup in my Martin D18V. I haven't been able to try any of the new Guild smaller bodied guitars yet.

I had been looking around for a 12 string and found a new Guild GAD-212 for around 60% of sugg. retail. Grover tuners, bone nut and saddle and a really nice hard case. The action, build quality and tone are unbelievable for the price. I had been looking for a vintage Guild but this deal was too good to pass up. I'm real happy with the purchase.

I played the CV-1C and it was amazing. I played it up against a Taylor 914ce and it blew it out of the water, and at half the price. It looked great with the florentine cut (my favorite part). It sounded great, very balanced tone wise. This will 100% be my next guitar. Wait 100% is too low, 2000%.

I have a small collection of older Guilds that I like very much. Recently, I got a chance to play nearly the entire new Guild lineup of guitars. Generally speaking, the new ones are at least equal to the older ones. The new D40 and D50 Bluegrass Jubilee models are MUCH better than the older models. The new D50 will finally stand equal against a new Martin D28. The new D40 I played blew my 1967 D40 out of the water! The new D55 was a top-shelf instrument that should age very well. It sounded amazingly like my old D55 except it of course had a crisp new-guitar sound to it. The Guild D55 was always and still remains the best guitar-bargain on the market today. You got to at least try that D50, its a real sweatheart of an instrument.

A bit curious. On the spectrum of Martin to Taylor, where does Guild fall? Yes, I assume it has a characteristic all its own - what is it?

Curious.

What is the neck profile like on the CV's...and what is the bridge spacing?
No Guild dealer for MANY miles around here.

Jeff, I haven't played a CV, but I believe the nut width is 1 11/16". My D40 has a 1 11/16" nut and a fairly fat neck. It "feels" bigger than my Larrivee D03 but measures the same. I would expect the CV's to have a full "C" shaped neck like my D40 , but again I haven't played one.
